James “Jim” Broffitt, PhD, brings a lifetime of academic and spiritual experience to his writing. A former professor of Statistics & Actuarial Science at the University of Iowa for 40 years, he also served as department chair for 11 years before retiring in 2010. Beyond academia, Broffitt has spent over four decades in dedicated Bible study and serves as an elder at River Community Church in Iowa City, Iowa. He is also a member of The Gideons International, serves on the advisory board for a local LifeWise Academy ministry, and volunteers with The Salvation Army.
The inspiration for the book emerged during the COVID 19 pandemic, when many individuals stepped away from regular church attendance. In response, Broffitt began writing and sharing short essays on Christian teachings with friends and family. These writings eventually evolved into a cohesive book, revised and expanded to reach a broader audience. He hopes the work will both encourage believers in their faith and invite others to explore a relationship with Jesus Christ.
