Collingswood, N.J. (June 2, 2025) – Premier Eye Associates is inviting families from across South Jersey to attend its first-ever Kid’s Fun Fest, a free, family-friendly event focused on fun, education, and community health. The event will take place on Saturday, June 14, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the practice’s Collingswood location.
The festival will feature a variety of engaging activities for children, including a face painting station, a raffle drawing, and the chance to meet and interact with real alpacas from Morning Glori Farmette. Families can also participate in hands-on activities such as “Build a Bailey”—a plush alpaca creation experience—and painting take-home birdhouses.
“We’re excited to create a space where families can enjoy a relaxed, festive atmosphere while also learning about something that’s incredibly important: children’s vision health,” said Dr. Tyler Mills, co-founder of Premier Eye Associates. “It’s about community first, with education woven in.”
All guests who schedule an eye care appointment during the event will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a $100 Premier Eye Associates gift voucher, redeemable for services or optical products at any of the practice’s three locations in Collingswood, Marlton, or Medford.
In addition to the festivities, Kid’s Fun Fest also serves a larger purpose—raising awareness about the alarming rise in myopia among children. Also known as nearsightedness, myopia causes distant objects to appear blurry and can progress rapidly in growing children. In severe cases, high myopia can lead to sight-threatening complications later in life, including retinal detachment and glaucoma.
“Screen time has increased, outdoor play has decreased, and we’re seeing more children developing myopia at younger ages,” said Dr. Brian Samartino, co-founder of the practice. “What many parents don’t realize is that there are ways to slow the progression—and that early diagnosis is critical.”
To support early intervention efforts, Premier Eye Associates has partnered with Treehouse Eyes, the leading provider of pediatric myopia care in the United States. This collaboration allows the practice to deliver specialized, evidence-based treatment plans designed to manage myopia progression. These include orthokeratology (Ortho-K) lenses, low-dose atropine therapy, and customized soft contact lens programs.
Doctors from the practice will be available on-site to speak with parents about the latest advancements in myopia management, how to spot early signs of vision problems, and what steps they can take to safeguard their child’s eye health.
