NEW YORK - July 8, 2025 - The Happiness Studies Academy, an institution of higher learning dedicated to bringing happiness to the world, today announced that it is launching a PhD program in Happiness Studies. The fully accredited doctoral program has been approved for student registration in partnership with Centenary University, a liberal arts and professional studies institution. The program will debut on August 25, 2025, with an application deadline of August 1, 2025. Students with a master’s degree in any subject are eligible to enroll.

The Happiness Studies Academy was co-founded by Professor Tal Ben-Shahar, a credentialed opinion leader in the field of happiness studies. Dr. Ben-Shahar is a best-selling author, lecturer, and pioneering scholar. His work blends the fields of psychology, philosophy, education, and science, exploring the art and science of “human flourishing.” Dr. Ben-Shahar developed the vision of happiness studies through teaching Harvard University’s extremely popular Positive Psychology and Psychology of Leadership courses.

“The PhD in Happiness Studies prepares graduates to play a vital role in what is known as the “happiness revolution,” by engaging in research, teaching and mentoring and practice,” said Dr. Ben-Shahar, who serves as the PhD Program Director. “The Happiness Studies PhD program invites students who aspire to contribute to a legacy of academic, and practical global impact.”

The PhD curriculum explores policy, education, business, wellness, and psychology. The program’s four-year course comprises 18 Modules, for a total of 66 credits. Tuition is $66,000, which covers everything for the doctoral program.
