Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Rancho Cucamonga City Council District 2 candidate David VanGorden is calling attention to concerns raised by residents regarding conditions at Golden Oak Park after reviewing public records and photographs provided by a nearby resident.

The issue came to VanGorden's attention when a District 2 resident contacted him to express concerns about litter, vandalism, suspicious activity, and the overall condition of the park. The resident stated that he regularly walks through the park, picks up trash himself, and has reported issues on multiple occasions.

Rather than relying on anecdotal information alone, VanGorden submitted a public records request seeking information regarding calls for service at Golden Oak Park.

According to records provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Golden Oak Park generated 67 calls for service between January 2025 and June 2026. The records include incidents involving disturbances, suspicious circumstances, narcotics-related activity, indecent exposure, welfare checks, and other public safety concerns.

The resident also provided photographs documenting litter, graffiti, discarded personal belongings, overflowing trash, and a discarded syringe found within the park.

"Residents deserve parks that are clean, safe, and welcoming for families," said VanGorden. "When residents take the time to raise concerns, I believe elected officials have a responsibility to listen, review the facts, and work toward solutions."

VanGorden emphasized that the issue is not about assigning blame but about ensuring that city resources, maintenance efforts, and public safety priorities continue to meet the needs of residents.

"Golden Oak Park is an important community asset," VanGorden said. "The questions being raised by residents deserve attention, and I believe those concerns should be part of a broader discussion about maintaining the quality of life that Rancho Cucamonga residents expect."

The review is consistent with VanGorden's campaign focus on public safety, government responsiveness, neighborhood quality of life, and ensuring that residents have a direct voice in local government.

Throughout his campaign, VanGorden has encouraged residents to contact him directly with concerns affecting their neighborhoods. He says the Golden Oak Park review demonstrates the importance of elected officials remaining accessible and engaged with the communities they serve.

David VanGorden is a retired law enforcement professional with more than 30 years of public safety experience and is a candidate for Rancho Cucamonga City Council District 2. He is running against incumbent Kristine Scott and candidate DeJonae Shaw for the District 2 seat in the November 2026 election.
