NEWARK, DE - May 22, 2026 - The AI Lab Intelligence Unobscured, Inc. ("The AI Lab"), headquartered in Newark, Delaware, today launched a comprehensive open framework for AI content authenticity, anchored by Trust Identity Protocol (TIP) and the public-facing #HumanOrAI hashtag. The framework, available worldwide and free for individuals, journalists, nonprofits, government, and educational institutions, gives every internet user a way to declare and prove whether content was made by a human, made with AI assistance, or generated by AI. The launch follows the European Union's AI Act Article 50, which mandates disclosure of AI-generated content beginning August 2026, and arrives as platforms, publishers, and policymakers search for verifiable answers to the question of content origin.

The framework consists of four interconnected components. Trust Identity Protocol (TIP) is the cryptographic open standard for verified human identity and content provenance, published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 with a reference implementation under the TIP Community License v1.0. The AI Trust Registry is the public ledger of accredited Verification Providers and certified AI systems. The Global Seal of Trust is the company's independent third-party certification program, auditing AI systems for safety, transparency, and ethical operation. The AI Trust Council is the multi-stakeholder governance body for TIP Protocol, modeled on how ICANN governs the global Domain Name System, with consensus across publishers, governments, accredited Verification Providers, civil-society groups, and the technical community.

Each piece of content signed under TIP carries one of three Origin Codes: OH (Original Human), AA (AI-Assisted), or AG (AI-Generated). The signature is bound to a verified TIP-ID issued by an accredited Verification Provider and is post-quantum secure under FIPS 203, 204, and 205. The TIP Protocol federated network, on which any organization or individual may operate a node, records content signatures permanently. Free-tier eligibility covers individuals and small businesses under USD $100,000 in annual revenue, nonprofits and NGOs of any size, educational institutions, government entities, and journalism organizations for editorial use. Commercial tiers run from $500 to $550,000 per year, scaled by licensee revenue.

Alongside the technical framework, The AI Lab originated #HumanOrAI as the public-facing rallying call for content authenticity. The hashtag pairs with a 29-tag taxonomy spanning identity (#VerifiedHuman, #HumanMade, #OriginalContent), verification (#ContentVerification, #AIDetection, #DeepfakeDetection), creator protections (#ContentCreator, #ProtectYourContent), and AI-versus-human framing (#SpotTheAI, #AIvsHuman, #CanYouTell). The campaign is recorded in Wikidata as item Q139721027, with The AI Lab Intelligence Unobscured (Q139715497) and Dinesh Mendhe (Q139715509) listed as co-creators.

The hashtag manifesto and full tag taxonomy are published at https://theailab.org/human-or-ai.

"The internet is sliding toward an era where nobody can confidently attribute anything," said Dinesh Mendhe, Founder and Chairman of The AI Lab. "A hashtag alone is a claim. A TIP-ID makes the claim provable. Together they give every creator, journalist, researcher, and platform a simple way to say: I made this, here is who I am, and here is exactly how it was made. The work is to make verified content origin part of the public infrastructure of the internet, alongside HTTPS and DNS."

The AI Lab holds three United States provisional patent applications covering biometric verification, origin declaration, deterministic trust scoring, dual-badge architecture, peppered zero-knowledge deduplication, and adaptive AI pre-scan, with a non-provisional deadline of March 12, 2027. The company's research operations cover artificial intelligence trust, post-quantum cryptography, biometric identity verification, and AI governance. The AI Trust Council convenes accredited Verification Providers under a tiered jurisdictional framework (GREEN, AMBER, and RED), each declared in public warrant canaries.
