Two New Members Join Ag-West Bio’s Board of Directors

Ag-West Bio welcomed Chantel Chizen and Kathy Larson to its board of directors at the annual meeting in September.

Kathy Larson is a professional research associate in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Saskatchewan. Her position is one of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s Strategic Research Program Chairs and is focused on beef, forage and farm management research and extension.

Chantel Chizen is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Saskatchewan. She specializes in the areas of soil carbon management and digital soil mapping, as well as soil science education and extension.

Ag-West Bio is Saskatchewan’s bioscience industry association. The company works to grow the province’s bioeconomy, developing the agri-food/bioscience ecosystem by fostering partnerships, spearheading initiatives, and supporting startup companies.

President and CEO Karen Churchill says, “With their diverse backgrounds and experience, our board members bring fresh perspectives, and that is key to staying ahead of the curve. Chantel and Kathy have valuable skillsets, and I look forward to working with them and all our excellent board members, as we continue to pursue Ag-West Bio’s mandate of strengthening Saskatchewan’s bioeconomy.
