DESCRIPTION:

HOUSTON and LONDON, September 28, 2021 /3BL Media/ - The Baker Hughes Foundation has announced a $250,000 grant to One Tree Planted in support of global reforestation initiatives. The grant will be applied toward projects to plant 250,000 trees in regions where Baker Hughes operates in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

One Tree Planted is a leading environmental non-profit focused on the six pillars of global reforestation—air, water, biodiversity, social impact, health and climate. This grant aligns with the Baker Hughes Foundation’s mission of promoting environmental outcomes such as nature-based climate solutions, climate resilience and biodiversity. In addition, this contribution is part of Baker Hughes’ commitment made on Earth Day 2021 to contribute $1 million towards environmental programs over the coming year. Baker Hughes will not claim carbon offsets as a result of these projects.

“Reforestation provides many environmental, health, social, and economic benefits to communities, and this contribution helps to advance the Baker Hughes Foundation’s longstanding philanthropic mission,” said Brian Worrell, CFO at Baker Hughes and president of the Baker Hughes Foundation board of trustees. “One Tree Planted and organizations like it play an important role in raising environmental awareness and making a real impact on the planet.”

“Planting trees has long-term environmental benefits for people and wildlife as much as for the climate,” said Matt Hill, Chief Environmental Evangelist at One Tree Planted. “With support from the Baker Hughes Foundation we can restore landscapes and create a healthier planet for future generations.”
