With economic and geopolitical uncertainty, the genre of prepping has seen an uptick in interest. People's concerns about society and the potential safety issues that could occur if the electrical grid goes down or another mass emergency presents itself are prevalent. In response, a duo of preppers have started a new website that they have named Urban Suburban Prepper.
"Me and my partner on the blog Jeff have been working on this project for almost 2 years now. We have collaborated and individually wrote numerous posts that we feel can be of benefit to those interested in prepping in an urban or suburban environment." says Gary Donald, a co-author of the website's content.
While many consider prepping as something ideally done in a very rural location with low population density, for most people who are concerned with potential calamitous scenarios, this isn't a realistic option. People's lives in an urban or suburban location often can't be changed to entertain the possibility of moving far away. While most might consider being in an area with a high population density to be a disadvantage, the authors at Urban Suburban Prepper on more than one page disagree.
The website plans to focus both on interesting products available to preppers, and also informative blog posts with a journalistic touch. Blog articles will consist both of prepper knowledge and commentary on current events that relate to prepping and survival. Insight into compact prepping tools that can easily fit into a bug out bag as well as emergency supplies that are useful in times of survival will be featured. An emphasis on solar items as well, since a grid down scenario is one of the most likely scenarios prepping enthusiasts strategize for.
Many different scenarios can present themself, and sometimes these chain of events can produce a volatile situation. Knowing how to act and what to do can make all the difference in times of survival. Having a knowledge base on all of the common potential scenarios you can confront puts you at an advantage. Not knowing what to do puts you in precarious circumstances that can be the difference between surviving and not surviving.
In hopes of creating awareness for the brand, both podcasting and videos are in the works. "We both like the idea of doing a podcast, but Jeff is a little camera shy, so maybe his side of the screen can be our logo" Gary joked. "We're aware that there are some really quality content providers in this space, and it might be tough competing with them, so we're hoping people like our stuff we put out."
The site will approach such topics as bugging out, food and water, first aid, protection of the home, and survival in general. If these topics are of interest, the website features multiple pages on these topics. Moreover, it will be specifically focused on surviving difficult scenarios in urban and suburban environments. Diverse scenarios and current events on the topic will be explored regularly. New posts are expected weekly, if not more regularly.
One topic that is covered in great detail is food storage options and what you can eat when the grid is down and you need to sustain yourself. These will be perilous times for most who are unprepared. Having survival foods like canned soups and canned seafood can be a real benefit due to their long shelf life and available nutrients. The website also introduces its audience to pemmican, a long standing survival food with an indefinite shelf life. When several of these items are stored for a volatile scenario, food security can be attained.
For those interested in the prepping genre, the new website Urban Suburban Prepper can be very advantageous. Many people who take interest in preparing for survival don't know exactly where to start. With guidance from experienced survivalists, an aspiring prepper can know what is important to focus on and where to start.
