Paris, France - April 15, 2025 - French perfumery Lesourd Pivert is expanding its commitment to sustainability by sourcing eco-conscious ingredients from Southeast Asia. Focusing on regions like Vietnam’s Central Highlands, the company is cultivating aromatic plants such as lemongrass, ginger, and cinnamon in partnership with local farmers, helping to meet the growing demand for natural, responsibly harvested materials in the fragrance industry.
The initiative supports Vietnam’s green agricultural transformation goals while aligning with Lesourd Pivert’s commitment to sustainable practices. By promoting eco-friendly farming methods, the company is working to reduce its environmental impact while contributing to the local economy.
The project emphasizes regenerative farming techniques to improve soil health and minimize environmental harm. Instead of chemical pesticides, the company encourages the use of biofertilizers, and solar-powered distillation systems will be implemented to process essential oils. These efforts aim to reduce carbon emissions by 35% compared to conventional farming methods.
“We are focused on sourcing ingredients in a way that preserves ecosystems and supports local farmers,” said Élise Lesourd, CEO of Lesourd Pivert. “Sustainability is not just about what we use in our products—it’s about how we contribute to healthier communities and a healthier planet.”
Lesourd Pivert also empowers farming communities, particularly women-led cooperatives in the Dak Lak and Lam Dong provinces. The company provides training on organic farming practices, soil health management, and international organic certification standards, ensuring that farmers can access premium pricing for their certified organic products. This is expected to increase farmer incomes by up to 20%.
In addition to these practices, the project includes several key environmental measures. Water recycling systems will be introduced for irrigation, and plant waste will be repurposed into biochar to improve soil quality. The initiative also supports reforestation, with plans to plant 5,000 native trees annually to combat deforestation linked to spice farming.
Lesourd Pivert is committed to long-term sustainability and transparency, demonstrating that responsible sourcing and ethical farming practices can coexist with innovation in the fragrance industry. The company’s efforts not only ensure that eco-friendly ingredients are sourced but also contribute to the well-being of the local communities involved.
