CATL inks deal with FlexGen Power to supply energy storage equipment

The Chinese-based battery manufacturer agreed to supply equipment over a three-year term.

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. signed a master supply agreement with FlexGen Power Systems to supply 10 GWh of energy storage equipment over a three-year period.

China-based CATL will supply FlexGen with EnerC, a containerized liquid-cooling battery system with an expected lifespan of 20 years. The product’s energy density can reach 259.7 kWh per square meter, which CATL said is almost a 200% increase over air-cooling systems.

FlexGen’s HybridOS energy management system platform will power the energy storage systems to be deployed for expected utility, competitive power market, as well as municipal and cooperative utility projects.

The announcement follows FlexGen being named to provide maintenance and optimization services on CATL battery energy storage equipment.

FlexGen provides integration services and software technology for energy storage deployments in the U.S. and globally.
