What happened?
Shares of theme park operator United Parks & Resorts (NYSE: PRKS) jumped 3.2% in the afternoon session after the company reported financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2026 and highlighted positive forward-looking pass and booking trends. According to the company's release, third-quarter pass sales grew nearly 8%, and the paid pass base had turned positive by October 31. Sales of 2027 pass products were up more than 15%. Forward bookings for Discovery Cove and for group events were each up by a double-digit percentage. Fewer guests came through the parks, but spending per guest rose. Revenue was a bit lower than a year ago, so the stock is trading on those forward trends rather than the quarter itself.
After the initial pop, the shares cooled down to $35.11, up 2.7% from the previous close.
