Additional Fiber Internet is Coming to Elyria Area from Kinetic

Kinetic announced plans to expand fiber internet in Elyria and the surrounding community. In addition to the approximately 19,000 locations that have gigabit service today, the company is expanding the fiber buildout to an additional 3,250 locations over the coming months. The fiber investment will power broadband, voice, productivity and entertainment services with unparalleled speed and reliability.

This investment gives residents and businesses in the area access to fast, reliable fiber to navigate the internet safely from home with no lag times while they work, attend school or stream entertainment services. Businesses ranging from small to enterprise can take advantage of the fiber-backed network to deploy solutions that make their companies more efficient and profitable such as OfficeSuite UC® and SD-WAN.

“Our vision is for Elyria residents and businesses to have access to the fastest internet available,” said Mayor Frank Whitfield. “This will allow us to compete globally economically as well as unlock limitless opportunities for our residents. We are excited about the investment that Kinetic by Windstream is making in Elyria and the partnership we have in closing the digital divide.”

Kinetic has a strong commitment to Elyria. Earlier this year, Kinetic partnered with the city to provide residents with computer training opportunities. The strategic partnership enabled more Elyrians to participate in the digital transformation.

Kinetic is embarking on a $2 billion, multi-year construction initiative to dramatically expand gigabit internet service by deploying fiber across its 18-state footprint. The company is proud to name the Elyria community as a market in Ohio for this premium investment.

Engineering for the project is ongoing, and Kinetic is staffing up its construction crews to begin the work later this year. Residents of North Ridgeville and Lagrange will see crews working on fiber roll-out in their areas in the coming months.

“Kinetic is a proud partner to the city and residents of Elyria and the surrounding areas and we are dedicated to delivering fast broadband speed, at competitive rates with unmatched service,” said Susan Schraibman, president of state operations in Ohio for Kinetic. “As this fiber is delivered, Lorain County more than ever will be able count on Kinetic for fast and reliable connections.”

To support the company’s multi-year, multi-billion dollar investment program, the company recently announced it will add nearly 1,000 jobs in a newly-created internal engineering and fiber construction organization.
