Humana Military Earns URAC Accreditations in Case and Disease Management

Three-year designations demonstrate the highest level of commitment to quality of care

Humana Military, a wholly owned subsidiary of Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), announced today that it has earned a three-year Case Management Accreditation and a Disease Management Accreditation from URAC. URAC is the independent leader in promoting health care quality by setting high standards for clinical practice, consumer protections, performance measurement, operations infrastructure and risk management.

The URAC Case and Disease Management Accreditations recognize organizational accountability among case and disease management programs, and a commitment toward delivering evidence-based, high-quality coordinated care, including improved patient experience and health outcomes. Receipt of these prestigious accreditations further affirms Humana Military as a driver in advancing delivery and quality of care for the six million TRICARE East beneficiaries and their families.

“Humana Military is deeply honored to have earned URAC accreditations in both Case and Disease Management,” said Brent Densford, President, Humana Military. “Our organization has a longstanding history of serving the health and well-being needs of our TRICARE East beneficiaries. These accreditations are a testament to our dedication to providing innovative programs that continue to improve the TRICARE beneficiary experience.”

As part of the accreditation process, Humana Military submitted documentation containing policies and procedures that was subject to “Desktop” and “Validation” assessments performed by a URAC team. The team’s review confirmed compliance with the Case and Disease Management program standards ultimately resulting in a “full accreditation” from the URAC Accreditation Committee for both programs.

“The pandemic this past year has shone a spotlight on the importance of – and need for – quality of care like never before,” said Shawn Griffin, M.D., President and CEO at URAC. “Receiving not one, but two independent accreditations demonstrates Humana Military’s commitment to raising the bar in their standards of care for the people who have served and continue to selflessly serve our country.”

The URAC accreditations in both Case and Disease Management dates began on August 1, 2021 and will run through August 1, 2024.

“We are proud of the great work the people of Humana Military have accomplished that has enabled us to achieve two URAC accreditations,” said Alefiyah Mesiwala, M.D., MPH, Chief Medical Officer, Humana Military. “Case and disease management play a critical role in improving patient care and health outcomes, and having URAC associated with our Military program is emblematic of our excellence and commitment to quality and accountability.”
