CASE 1: Sierra Canyon School – The "Kissing Club"
The California sexual abuse law firm filed a lawsuit against Sierra Canyon School after an 8-year-old girl was repeatedly sexually assaulted by older students as part of what has been referred to as the "Kissing Club," a group that operated inside school bathrooms during regular school hours.
According to the lawsuit, older students pressured and coerced younger children, including the victim, into kissing, touching genital areas, and engaging in oral copulation. Faculty failed to provide adequate supervision, allowing the abuse to continue undetected for an extended period.
The victim's mother had reported bullying concerns to the school in 2023, yet the school implemented no protective measures. When staff later discovered the incidents, including video recordings of the sexual acts on students' phones, they failed to promptly notify the victims' parents or law enforcement, a direct violation of California's mandatory reporting laws.
