Dow Jones today announced the launch of the WSJ Geopolitical Risk Council, an invitation-only executive community designed to support global corporate decision-makers as they prepare for geopolitical shocks.
Convened under the WSJ Leadership Institute, the Council brings together senior executives across functions, industries and borders alongside Knowledge Partner Oliver Wyman, a global leader in management consulting and a business of Marsh. Together, members will participate in facilitated peer-to-peer exchanges and expert briefings on geopolitical risk and its implications for enterprise resilience, as well as approaches to strengthening organizational preparedness for future disruptions.
The Council formally assembled last night at an inaugural dinner hosted during United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) week in New York, establishing a vital new executive community for cross-functional leaders overseeing the geopolitical remit at multinational corporations.
“Geopolitical risk has rapidly evolved into a core driver of corporate strategy, enterprise resilience and balance sheet performance,” said Joel Lange, EVP and GM, Dow Jones Risk and Enterprise. “By bringing together diverse enterprise leaders with Dow Jones’s proprietary intelligence, the WSJ Geopolitical Risk Council gives C-suite decision-makers the trusted executive network and actionable intelligence required to think creatively about how the world could unfold and navigate complex global disruptions with confidence.”
Peer Exchange and Actionable Insights
The Council connects cross-functional decision-makers—including chief strategy officers, chief risk officers, and heads of corporate affairs, legal and global security—with a foundational network of global experts, former world leaders, diplomats and academics. The Council is launching with a founding cohort of over 50 members, including:
- Johanna Faries, President, Blizzard Entertainment
- Jason Hoff, Mercedes-Benz North America CEO, Mercedes-Benz North America
- Udo Lange, CEO, Stolt-Nielsen M.S Ltd
- Elona Ruka-Wright, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, Finastra
“Geopolitical shifts are rewriting the rules of global business overnight,” said Udo Lange, CEO of Stolt-Nielsen M.S Ltd and founding member of the WSJ Geopolitical Risk Council. “By pairing sharp, objective analysis with candid executive dialogue, this Council gives C-suite leaders the foresight needed to protect and advance their global operations.”
Members will gather during flagship global moments, including UNGA, the World Economic Forum in Davos, the Munich Security Conference and the Aspen Security Forum. To inform ongoing strategic planning, members receive dedicated access to actionable intelligence from across Dow Jones, including the Oxford Analytica Daily Brief, the Dow Jones Crisis Monitor and curated monthly executive briefs.
