What Happened?

Shares of life sciences company Revvity (NYSE: RVTY) jumped 3.1% in the afternoon session after the company reported strong second-quarter 2026 results that surpassed Wall Street expectations and raised its full-year guidance.

Revvity announced an adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.41, beating the forecast of $1.21, while revenue reached $729.68 million, ahead of the anticipated $703.39 million. The positive performance was driven by 11% organic growth in its Diagnostics segment and an acceleration in Life Science orders.

Following the strong quarter, the company lifted its full-year guidance to 4-5% organic growth and an EPS range of $5.30-$5.40. In response to the results, analysts at Stifel raised their price target on the stock to $110 from $100, and Bernstein increased its target to $120 from $115.

After the initial pop, the shares cooled down to $114.09, up 2.6% from the previous close.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Revvity’s shares are somewhat volatile and have had 11 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

The biggest move we wrote about over the last year was 3 months ago when the stock gained 7.3% on the news that its first-quarter 2026 results surpassed Wall Street's expectations. The company posted adjusted earnings of $1.06 per share on revenue of $711.1 million, which grew 7% year-on-year. Both figures came in ahead of analysts' consensus estimates. However, the positive quarterly results were tempered by a cautious outlook. Revvity lowered its full-year revenue guidance to a midpoint of $2.83 billion, coming in 5.2% below what analysts had projected. The company also trimmed its full-year adjusted earnings per share forecast. Despite the weaker-than-expected forecast for the remainder of the year, investors appeared to focus on the first-quarter outperformance, sending the stock higher.

Revvity is up 16.2% since the beginning of the year, and at $114.09 per share, it is trading close to its 52-week high of $117.75 from January 2026. Despite the year-to-date gain, investors who bought $1,000 worth of Revvity’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at only $609.93.
