What Happened?

Shares of helicopter services provider Bristow Group (NYSE: VTOL) fell 9.5% in the afternoon session after the company reported mixed second-quarter results that appeared to disappoint investors.

While Bristow beat Wall Street's revenue and adjusted EBITDA expectations, its earnings per share (EPS) fell significantly short of estimates. The company reported revenue of $411.8 million, up 9.4% year-over-year and slightly ahead of consensus. However, its GAAP profit of $0.70 per share was 17.6% below what analysts had projected.

Looking ahead, the company's full-year revenue guidance came in above expectations, but its forecast for adjusted EBITDA was only in line with estimates. The substantial earnings miss likely overshadowed the revenue beat, leading to the negative market reaction.

What Is The Market Telling Us

Bristow Group’s shares are not very volatile and have only had 4 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful, although it might not be something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.

Bristow Group is up 19.4% since the beginning of the year, but at $44.60 per share, it is still trading 10.8% below its 52-week high of $50.01 from April 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Bristow Group’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,713.
