The term “Downwinder” is used to describe people who were exposed to radioactive fallout in Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, and New Mexico during the nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site. Residents, and their families, are encouraged to come have their questions answered about the program. There is no prior registration needed to attend.
If residents have called asking for an application to be sent and they have not received one yet, applications will be available at the meetings. Unfortunately, those who have already been compensated by the RECA program, the law does not allow them to apply for any additional money.
