WESTON, Mo. - Historic Weston Orchard & Vineyard, a family farm voted one of the top 10 orchards in America by USA Today, will host its annual Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, Sept. 26, and Sunday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. The festival fills the orchard's 50 acres in Weston, Mo., about 35 minutes north of Kansas City, and is included with regular fall admission.
It is the orchard's biggest weekend of the year. Hayrack rides run out to the pumpkin patch all day. At the patch, visitors walk the rows, cut their own pumpkins off the vine and pay by weight. Apples are still in season, so families can pick apples and pumpkins on the same trip.
"Pumpkin Fest is the one weekend a year when the whole farm runs flat out," said Kaden Olson, co-owner of Historic Weston Orchard & Vineyard. "One ticket covers every bit of it. No tokens, no wristbands. Just come out and spend the day."
Pumpkin Fest schedule, both days
- 9 a.m.: Gates open and the bakery starts frying apple cider donuts
- All day: Hayrack rides to the pumpkin patch, the 2-acre corn maze and all 16 farm activities
- 1 p.m.: The candy cannon fires
- Live music: Muddy Ribbon on Saturday, 1:15 to 4:15 p.m.; Sean McNown on Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.
- 5 p.m.: Gates close
Hay mountain, the corn crib, the apple cannons, the Apple Express and the weekend carousel are all open, and the zinnia garden is still in bloom. The farm bakery serves cider donuts made with cider pressed from the orchard's own apples, plus cider slushies, caramel apples and kettle corn.
Admission
There is no separate Pumpkin Fest ticket. Fall weekend admission is $17.99 for ages 3 to 64; $14.99 for seniors 65 and older and for military with ID; and $12.99 for Weston residents. Fall in Weston
Pumpkin Fest is the first of five fall weekends with live music at the orchard, which plays every Saturday and Sunday afternoon through Oct. 25. On Oct. 3 and 4, during the Weston Chamber of Commerce's Applefest downtown, the orchard serves as one of three official free parking and shuttle lots. U-pick apples run through Oct. 31, and the pumpkin patch is open daily through October.
