Regional distributor adds cryogenic fleet and storage capacity to serve the Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio industrial corridors
FLOWER MOUND, Texas, September 21, 2026 — Southwest Gases, a regional industrial gas distributor headquartered in Flower Mound, Texas, announced today that it has expanded its bulk liquid nitrogen delivery capacity across the state to meet growing demand from semiconductor manufacturers, data center operators, cold chain logistics providers, and industrial fabricators.
It also extends delivery coverage to include the industrial corridor between Taylor and Sherman, where two of the largest semiconductor manufacturing facilities in the United States are under construction.
Texas is one of the fastest-growing industrial gas markets in North America. The Dallas-Fort Worth region is now the second-largest data center market in the United States, with roughly 700 megawatts of capacity under construction and a planned pipeline above 3 gigawatts. Samsung’s Taylor fab and Texas Instruments’ Sherman expansion together represent more than $45 billion in semiconductor manufacturing investment. Each facility of this type requires industrial-scale liquid nitrogen supply before it can begin production.
Liquid nitrogen is one of the most heavily used inputs in modern manufacturing and data infrastructure. Semiconductor fabs use it to purge and inert processing chambers. Data centers rely on nitrogen-based fire suppression systems and, increasingly, on liquid nitrogen cooling for high-density AI compute racks. Cold chain operators use it for cryogenic freezing and transport of pharmaceuticals, biological samples, frozen food products, and specialty chemicals. Demand across all of these segments has grown sharply in Texas since 2024.
“The construction we are seeing across Texas right now is unlike anything in the state’s history,” said Rudy De La Fuente, principal at Southwest Gases. “Every new fab, every new data center campus, and every new cold storage facility needs a reliable nitrogen supply before the doors open. We expanded our fleet and our storage capacity because our customers told us they needed a supplier who could grow with them, and we were not willing to be the bottleneck.”
