AHF Sues Google Over Potential Privacy Breaches in Healthcare Analytics Tools

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) recently filed a lawsuit against Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary, Google LLC, seeking to hold those corporations accountable for potential privacy breaches in their healthcare analytics tools.

“Visitors to AHF sites encountered a Google product that the tech giant could use for its own ends,” said Tom Myers, AHF's General Counsel. “Google aggressively courts healthcare organizations, like AHF, to use Google’s website analytics tools, from which Google generates enormous revenues. AHF’s lawsuit is just the beginning of holding Google and other tech titans accountable for abuses in their health care analytic tools. AHF is fighting back and will vigorously pursue justice in this case.”

Decoding the tech labyrinth has become an increasingly impossible task for conscientious healthcare providers. AHF's suit seeks to hold Google responsible for creating inscrutable systems that can potentially compromise patient privacy.

AHF’s lawsuit (Case # 24STCV19345) was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court. The case may take up to several years to resolve.

AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the world’s largest HIV/AIDS healthcare organization, provides cutting-edge medicine and advocacy to more than 3 million individuals across 50 countries, including the U.S. and in Africa, Latin America/Caribbean, the Asia/Pacific Region, and Eastern Europe. In January 2025, AHF received the MLK, Jr. Social Justice Award, The King Center’s highest recognition for an organization leading work in the social justice arena.
