Lawyers recognized for malpractice liability and appellate excellence
Johnston Tobey Baruch shareholders Randy Johnston, Robert Tobey and Chad Baruch have been selected to D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas for 2026, each extending their tenure on the list well into a second decade.
Mr. Johnston and Mr. Tobey were recognized among the best in North Texas for professional nonmedical liability litigation, and Mr. Baruch was honored for his appellate practice.
D Magazine says its honorees, who are selected by a committee of peer attorneys and magazine staff members, are chosen for “representing the people and institutions of Dallas with mastery and drive.”
“We are honored once more to be recognized by our clients and our peers,” said Mr. Baruch, the firm’s managing shareholder. “We look forward to another year of successful representation and collaboration.”
Mr. Johnston is board certified in civil trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He handles cases involving professional malpractice, breaches of fiduciary duty and other business disputes and is a familiar name on Texas Super Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and the Lawdragon media guides.
Mr. Tobey, a past president of the Dallas Bar Association, is board certified in consumer and commercial law by the TBLS and also is a fixture on the industry’s top legal guides.
Mr. Baruch, who is board certified by the TBLS in civil appellate law, focuses on civil and family appeals, constitutional law, legal ethics and representation of judges before the State Commission on Judicial Conduct.
Most recently, Mr. Baruch wrote an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of a coalition of hip-hop artists and First Amendment defenders. The brief argues that Dallas County prosecutors improperly relied on artistic expression to stoke racial and anti-rap bias while seeking a death sentence in a capital murder trial.
