The tour’s centerpiece, the “Forging Our Future” exhibit, debuts in Pittsburgh – the birthplace of U. S. Steel – April 23 to 26. The exhibit will then travel to U. S. Steel locations and communities, major events and college campuses throughout the United States, including the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C. from June 25 - July 10, 2026.

“This exhibit puts the viewer inside the story of steel,” said U. S. Steel President and Chief Executive Officer David Burritt. “It shows how steel is all around us – in the moments, places, experiences that matter most. This is about more than our past, it’s how we’re forging the future of steel – through safety, innovation, advanced technology and the employees who make it all possible.”

“Forging Our Future” invites guests to explore how steel shapes everyday life - from a tailgate on game day, to energy production, and the appliances we rely on every day. Through hands-on activities, guests experience the 125-year history of U. S. Steel and get a glimpse of what’s ahead through our partnership with Nippon Steel.

Guests will also step inside the steelmaking process to see how steel begins as iron ore mined in Minnesota and becomes advanced steel produced in our manufacturing facilities. Finally, the stories of employees come to life. These stories highlight a constant focus on safety, the pride of American manufacturing, and the dynamic career opportunities shaping the next generation of steelmaking.

The “Forging Our Future” exhibit will be available to the public beginning April 23 through April 26, 2026, at Steel Plaza located at 600 Grant St. in Pittsburgh, PA. in front of the iconic U. S. Steel Tower. Visitors are welcome between 10:00a.m. and 6:00p.m. Eastern.
