Coming on the heels of her 2026 Olympic success and announcement that she will retire after the 2026 season, the film reveals how seeking specialized professional eating disorder treatment became a pivotal point in Diggins’ journey, enabling her to reclaim her health while continuing to compete at the highest level of her sport. Her perseverance paid off. As of February 2026, Diggins is the most successful American cross-country skier in history, holding the record for most Olympic medals for a U.S. skier (four) and most World Championship medals (seven), along with multiple World Cup overall titles. Through her courage and candor, THRESHOLD delivers a powerful message for athletes everywhere: prioritizing mental health and recovery can strengthen overall wellbeing and athletic performance.
“The Emily Program and The Emily Program Foundation are deeply honored to support the production of THRESHOLD and to stand alongside Jessie in sharing this important story,” said Jillian Lampert, Vice President of Strategy and Public Affairs at The Emily Program and Executive Director of The Emily Program Foundation. “By putting her vulnerability and authenticity on full display, Jessie continues to be a beacon of hope in so many. She has made—and will continue to make—an indelible impact on awareness of eating disorders. Her willingness to share her experience and recovery journey is powerful and profoundly inspiring, especially those struggling with similar challenges.”
According to the National Alliance for Eating Disorders, eating disorders and disordered eating behaviors occur at much higher rates in athletes than in the general population. Up to 45 percent of female athletes and 19 percent of male athletes exhibit these behaviors, compared with much lower rates in non‑athletic populations.
Diggins shares her story to show others facing eating disorders that hope and healing are possible. Her struggles began in 2010, when disordered eating habits developed into a full eating disorder, prompting her to seek professional care. Diggins credits The Emily Program for providing a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental environment that gave her the confidence to begin live-saving treatment.
Through her dedication to recovery, Diggins reclaimed her health and continued to pursue her athletic dreams. She has learned how to balance ambition with self-care while advocating for mental health and athlete well-being. Reflecting on THRESHOLD and the impact she hopes it will have, Diggins said, “I truly believe this film will save lives. This is the story my 18-year-old self desperately needed to hear.”
THRESHOLD premieres on Peacock on February 23, 2026. To view the trailer, click here.
