Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits Issues Statement on Dismissal of Litigation by Major Brands, Inc.

Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits (Southern Glazer's)—the world’s preeminent distributor of beverage alcohol—today announced the successful resolution of litigation brought by Major Brands, Inc. (n/k/a Breakthru Beverage) in St. Louis, Missouri. The case, which began in 2018, centered around claims by Major Brands, Inc. that it had a franchise relationship with Jägermeister. From the start, Southern Glazer’s stood by its position that there was no such franchise relationship, and that its actions were entirely lawful. After Southern Glazer’s and Jägermeister won an appellate victory, Breakthru elected to dismiss the case with prejudice, ending the litigation after nearly eight years. Importantly, there was no settlement payment by either Southern Glazer’s or Jägermeister in connection with the dismissal.
