NETS Announces 2025 Road Safety Achievement Award Winners

The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) announced the recipients of its Road Safety Achievement Awards presented during the 2025 Strength IN Numbers® Fleet Safety Benchmark Conference in Minneapolis, (October 6–9).

“Each of these award recipients demonstrates what’s possible when organizations make road safety a core value,” said Susan Hipp, Executive Director of NETS. “Their programs exemplify success through a combination of data-driven insights, leadership commitment, and a genuine care for people on- and off-the-job. We’re proud to recognize their achievements and the example they set for fleets worldwide.”

Overall Road Safety Achievement — Amgen

Amgen’s data-driven safety program integrates Driver Performance Profiling, telematics, Motor Vehicle Record checks, and continuous training. Recent enhancements—risk-based assessments, event-triggered interventions, and tailored coaching—have delivered measurable gains, including a 5% year-over-year reduction in collisions per million miles and a 27% decrease in high-risk drivers. In 2024 alone, Amgen completed more than 16,000 training modules and 5,400 MVR checks, underscoring safety as a core value.

Overall Road Safety Achievement (Honorable Mention) — SNF Oil & Gas

SNF’s “Driving To Zero!” program combines leadership commitment, in-vehicle monitoring, graduated licensing, and ongoing coaching. Since launching in 2019, the company has reduced its motor vehicle incident rate from 5.0 to below 1.0 per million miles and cut coaching events from over 800 to fewer than 100—a dramatic improvement that reflects a strong, behavior-based safety culture.

International Road Safety Achievement — Japan Tobacco International (JTI)

With support from Smith System, JTI launched a global, app-based driver-safety platform engaging 3,600 drivers across 20 countries, reducing speeding and fatigue-related risks while improving eco-driving performance. By pairing real-time insights, gamification, and targeted eLearning with strong leadership, the program is a model for scalable, driver-first safety worldwide.
