Tanium Named Among Vendors for Autonomous Endpoint Management in 2024 Gartner Hype Cycle for IT Management Intelligence

As organizations turn to AI-oriented tools and technologies, AEM is deemed instrumental in helping I&O leaders improve IT delivery capabilities through coordinated implementation of AI

Tanium, the industry’s leading provider of Converged Endpoint Management (XEM), today announced it has been recognized as a Sample Vendor for Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM) in the Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for IT Management Intelligence, 2024*. “Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM) combines capabilities of unified endpoint management and digital employee experience tools with AI and machine learning to accelerate endpoint patching, configuration and experience management. The AEM approach significantly accelerates patching and configuration management and reduces digital friction, resulting in improved compliance, employee experience, and productivity.” As a result, Gartner says AEM allows leaders to:

  • Reduce IT overhead through automatic resolution of issues that disrupt and impede employee productivity.
  • Maintain endpoint configuration standards based on vendor, industry or self-defined baselines.
  • Reduce cyber risk by automating patch and configuration management.
  • Automate software and configuration deployment based on policy and persona.

Built on Tanium’s award-winning XEM platform, Tanium’s AEM solutions equip the world’s most security-conscious organizations with real-time data and insights to automate routine tasks, streamline threat remediation, and offer personalized insights and recommendations.

“Tanium has been at the forefront of providing visibility, control, and remediation of endpoint devices and we see AEM as an evolution of our award-winning XEM platform,” said Matt Quinn, Chief Technology Officer, Tanium. “The addition of Tanium AEM helps customers achieve unprecedented levels of automation, efficiency, and visibility across their endpoints, reducing IT overhead, maintaining configuration standards, lowering cyber risk, and enhancing employee experience.”

Gartner has provided an ‘Emerging’ rating to AEM in this year’s report. According to Gartner, organizations are increasingly turning to AEM solutions to give reprieve to IT teams grappling with endpoint devices, operating systems and applications. “Largely driven by increased AI and machine learning (ML) capabilities, technology vendors have accelerated development and release cadence, and IT cannot keep pace.” Furthermore, Gartner states that “the accelerated pace of software updates and increased level of vulnerabilities continue to overwhelm IT, undermine technology stability, increase cybersecurity risk and degrade digital employee experience (DEX).”

Since its introduction at Tanium’s November 2023 Converge event, the company has announced the first set of innovations towards its autonomous platform, Tanium Guardian, Tanium Automate, and a joint solution with Microsoft Copilot for Security.

Tanium Guardian provides organizations with the most recent information and recommendations on critical emerging vulnerabilities from Tanium’s endpoint security research experts. Conceptualized and built by the company’s most seasoned security engineers, it surpasses threat intelligence to provide visibility into zero day and emerging threats, delivers automated impact analysis, and gives customers reliable remediation options they can act on. With Tanium Guardian, customers can anticipate and address issues early, optimize efficiency, and prevent or minimize negative impacts.

Tanium Automate, now available to commercial cloud customers, drives efficiency by automating mission critical but repetitive or manual tasks. Through no-code automation and orchestration workflow builders, organizations can build playbooks and execute endpoint actions in a series at scale.

Joint Solution with Microsoft Copilot for Security, now available to commercial cloud customers, gives security teams an autonomous-driven advantage with Tanium’s real-time endpoint data and intelligence feeding directly into this AI-Powered product. Copilot for Security increases security professionals’ ability to respond to threats quickly, process signals at machine speed, and assess and act on risk exposure in minutes.
