Mr. Taylor was raised in Jasper, Georgia, where his family's legacy of dedication and hard work shaped his values. In addition to recently finding out that his great-grandfather worked at Atlantic Steel, both his grandfather, Gilford, and father, Walter, worked for the company, now known as Atlantic Station, for a combined 65 years, imparting invaluable lessons of commitment, integrity and perseverance. His maternal great-grandfather, Carl Lee Brooks, studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, serving his local community in the field of construction. Carl established a reputation as a design-build contractor known for only a "wheelbarrow full of waste" at the end of a project. Carl's son, Harry Lee Brooks, also a resident of Jasper, followed a similar career path as a master mason, working both locally in Jasper and Atlanta, also known for precision and a strong work ethic.
Inspired by his family's long-standing contributions, Mr. Taylor embarked on his own journey, earning his place as a successful architect. He made significant strides in his education, earning his bachelor's degree in architecture from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2006. He later obtained certifications from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and Cornell University's hotel planning program.
A Notable Career in Architecture
After graduation, Mr. Taylor worked at several architectural firms before founding his own design studio. He considers the establishment of Taylor Design Studio to be his greatest accomplishment. Throughout his career, Mr. Taylor has incorporated the latest technologies into his projects, including 3D design and animation, thereby staying at the forefront of the rapidly evolving architectural industry.

His Professional Journey
Mr. Taylor's journey into architecture was influenced by several pivotal experiences. From 2003 to 2005, he began his career in technical support at Design Integrations Inc. He then moved into an intern architect role at CUH2A, where he remained until 2006, gaining foundational skills in architecture. He continued his career at TVS Design, working as a senior associate from 2006 until 2016. During this time, he contributed to several high-profile projects, solidifying his reputation in the field. Later, he worked at 5G Studio Collaborative and Gensler, where he honed his expertise in bespoke projects and leadership roles.
In 2022, Mr. Taylor founded Taylor Design Studio, bringing his entrepreneurial dreams to life. This milestone marks the culmination of years of perseverance and hard work, representing his most significant professional achievement.
Influences and Mentorship
Mr. Taylor credits his family, for shaping his work ethic and determination. Their experiences taught him the value of resilience and entrepreneurship. Additionally, he acknowledges Tom Eubanks of T-Designs as an influential mentor who helped set the groundwork for his architectural education. Mr. Taylor apprenticed under Mr. Eubanks during his high school years, which significantly shaped his architectural journey.
Looking ahead, Mr. Taylor remains excited about the organic growth of his business and is committed to building a small, specialized architectural firm. His goal is to continue collaborating with small businesses and minority-owned firms, providing exceptional services through impactful partnerships.
