Bruce Allen Craig Calls for Community Action: "Support Doesn't Start with Money - It Starts with Showing Up"

Texas entrepreneur urges everyday people to take action for children and communities in need

AUSTIN, TX / ACCESS Newswire / November 20, 2025 / After decades of success in real estate and entertainment, Bruce Allen Craig is using his platform to encourage everyday Texans to support the causes that matter - starting in their own backyards.

Craig, the Founder and CEO of Big Easy Entertainment and Songwriters Texas LLC, recently took the stage at Dancing with the Stars Austin, not just to dance, but to raise money and awareness for the Center for Child Protection, a nonprofit serving children impacted by abuse and neglect in Travis County. The experience, he says, changed how he views community action.

"I wasn't just dancing under the lights," Craig said. "I was backstage in a room filled with children's clothes, shoes, and donated supplies. That's where it hit me - this is real life for thousands of kids, and they need more than our applause. They need our presence."

A Call to Act, Not Just Donate

In 2023, the Center for Child Protection served over 1,800 children through forensic interviews, therapy, and emergency support. Still, nearly 70% of child abuse cases in the U.S. go unreported, and many nonprofits struggle to keep up with demand.

Craig is asking people not just to write checks, but to get involved.

"You don't have to be wealthy or powerful to help. Volunteer a weekend. Organize a drive. Share a story. It all adds up," Craig said. "Support doesn't start with money - it starts with showing up."

Built from the Ground Up

Craig's journey from rural Southeast Texas to the boardrooms of Austin is rooted in a life of hard work. At age 10, he sold his family's home using a homemade "For Sale" sign nailed to a tree. By his teens, he was helping remodel houses and build barns with his father, an Air Force veteran.

"I grew up picking okra, riding a horse named Gigi, and selling vegetables from the back of a truck," Craig said. "We didn't have much, but we knew how to show up for each other. That's the part of Texas I carry with me."

Beyond Business, Toward Purpose

Craig built a decades-long career in real estate before expanding into entertainment, acquiring Songwriters Across Texas, a TV and music platform showcasing local talent. He now leads a network of restaurants, entertainment venues, and media programs - but says success means little without purpose.

"Real estate taught me structure," he said. "Entertainment taught me soul. But service? That's what gives all of it meaning."

What You Can Do Right Now

Craig encourages individuals and businesses to take simple steps that create real impact:

  • Volunteer at local nonprofits like the Center for Child Protection

  • Donate gently used clothes, shoes, or toys to community shelters

  • Mentor youth or support arts programs that empower kids

  • Educate yourself about local needs - and spread the word

  • Show up - consistently, humbly, and without expecting credit

"You don't need a title or a stage," Craig said. "You just need to care - and act on it."
