How to understand strength, hardness, elasticity, toughness and ductility of steel

Strengthm - The material should be able to withstand the force applied in the application scenario without bending, breaking, crumbling or deforming.

Hardness - Harder materials are generally more resistant to scratches, durable and resistant to tears and indentations.

Flexibility - The ability of a material to absorb force, bend in different directions and return to its original state.

Formability - Ease of molding into permanent shapes

Ductility - The ability to be deformed by a force in the length direction. Rubber bands have good elasticity. Material wise thermoplastic elastomers generally have good ductility.

Tensile strength - The ability to deform before breaking or snapping.

Ductility - The ability of a material to change shape in all directions before cracking occurs, which is a test of the material's ability to re-plasticize.

Toughness - The ability of a material to withstand a sudden impact without breaking or shattering.

Conductivity - Under normal circumstances, good electrical conductivity of the material thermal conductivity is also good.
