Inside Ethan Schulteis success: The young creator who amassed 1 million subscribers before age 20

By: Get News
Ethan Schulteis has wanted to become an animator and video creator since he can remember. That passion has seen him become a very successful young creator in the digital space.

It goes without saying, times have changed, and what seemed close to impossible years ago is now an everyday reality. Before the age of technology took shape, many dreams were left unfilled, but thanks to the abundance of information, people can now pursue their passions from a young age. That is precisely what Ethan Schulteis did.

Back in 2016, Ethan Schulteis decided to pursue his dream. However, this was not the start of his journey. Ethan explains that his passion for animation and video creation has followed him for a long time. “Though my channel was created in July of 2016, the story really begins six years prior when I was in elementary school,” says Ethan. The then 14-year-old student decided to pursue a career in video creation and launched his channel ‘The Amagi.’

Before ‘The Amagi,’ Ethan had dabbled in a range of projects, expressing his creativity in various forms. His creative streak saw him create multiple channels as a child, even before he decided to pursue a career in YouTube. In his video, ‘The History of The Amagi,’ Ethan Schulteis discusses how at 12-years-old, he pitched a show to Nickelodeon, and when they didn’t respond, he went ahead to create the show himself. That was the birth of his animated series ‘The Amagi.’ “I was the kid who watched the DVD behind-the-scenes on repeat,” confesses Ethan on his love for Avatar, which led to his passion for anime and manga. His Avatar series of videos saw him pass the 100,000 subscribers mark in 2020, quickly turning that into over 1 million subscribers today.

The first episode of his show didn’t gain as much traction as he’d anticipated, which was discouraging. This saw him step back from YouTube for two years, during which he experimented with various video formats to see what worked best. When he picked it back up in 2018, he devoted time and effort to building his channel. Today, he has amassed over 1 million subscribers and more than 200 million video views. The Amagi is now famous for his anime reviews and origin stories of various anime and manga characters, groups, locations, and abilities.

Following the success of his first channel, ‘The Amagi,’ Ethan proceeded to create other channels like his personal vlog account, Ethan Schulteis, The Amagi 2, and The Amagi Hindi. Combined, his accounts boast more than 829 million views and 3.35 million subscribers. Ethan also has an impressive following on his social media platforms.

Besides focusing on his main channels, Ethan Schulteis has also partnered with various brands. In 2020, he partnered with Avatar Wiki, where he gets helping writing scripts for his videos. In 2021, he partnered with Frederator Media to produce content for their YouTube account ‘ChannelFrederator.’ He also began working with Unilingo that same year to translate his content into Hindi.

Though it may appear that Ethan Schulteis, popularly known online as The Amagi, rose to fame quite fast, he explains that it has been a long but worthwhile journey. His achievements so far show his dedication to video production and animation.
