Kaitlyn Ng, a High School Senior, is committed to Exploring and Contributing to Aspects of Biotechnology and Bioengineering

Based in San Ramon, California, Kaitlyn Ng is not deterred by her current level of education as she has been exploring different aspects of Biotechnology and Bioengineering and aims to improve the quality of the information in these fields

There is too much information in the form of research papers, seminars, books, websites, and much more to help people understand what biotechnology and bioengineering are about and their roles in creating a better world. However, this abundance in informational materials and programs consists of few useful information.

On this note, Kaitlyn Ng, a High School senior who is unperturbed by her age or educational qualifications, has created a portfolio website at www.kaitlynng.com where she shares all she learns and the information she gets while exploring the various aspects of biotechnology and bioengineering. Kaitlyn's drive is her incredible passion for bioengineering, and her portfolio website features all the projects she has worked on while in High School.

It is surprising to find someone of Kaitlyn's age and level involved in the kind of research work and project she has completed thus far, and the young Californian is not resting on her oars. Speaking about her many accomplishments and contributions, Kaitlyn Ng had this to say, "I have worked on independent and group bioengineering research projects. I have also participated in community service related to bioengineering through online volunteer opportunities. My interest in bioengineering expands beyond research and bleeds into many other aspects of my life.”

Kaitlyn volunteered for online SciStarter projects such as Eye Wire, Stallcatchers, and Phylo, contributing to key research in genetic/neuronal diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. She also participated in UCLA's SciArt program designing and researching "Project Prosthetic," a 3D printed, eco-friendly prosthetic with IMES/quantum physics technology. Additionally, Kaitlyn explored various sects of science, such as microbes and epigenetics.

“Last summer, I participated in the Summer STEM Institute which helped me develop data science/scientific research skills, and I utilized what I learned to start my own independent research project on breast cancer, advised by Adam Klie,” concluded Kaitlyn Ng.
