Zhejiang Art Museum contributes to fine arts education

The Zhejiang Art Museum and the Hangzhou Basic Education Research Office initiated a support plan for the province's fine arts education on Sept 8.

The museum, which is based in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, donated 700,000-yuan ($108,640) worth of high-profile albums of paintings to 170 primary and middle schools across the city on Sept 8.

Ying Jinfei, curator of the museum, said that the Zhejiang Art Museum is a national-level key art gallery that boasts plentiful resources related to books and artists, and will proactively join in the building of public culture and push forward fine arts education on school campuses.

Over the next two years, the museum plans to gradually make its digital resources of modern and contemporary Chinese fine arts works, which includes around 50,000 masterpieces in its collection, available to fine arts teachers in the city's primary and middle schools.

The museum will also cooperate with the Hangzhou China Basic Education Research Office in organizing campus activities and carrying out investigations to explore the most effective approach for fine arts education among primary and middle school students.

In cooperation with the China Academy of Art, the museum will offer fine arts teachers from primary and middle schools a series of free training programs in the coming weeks.
