Live on Kickstarter, the Duzu DW-D3 is a beautifully designed dive watch paying tribute to the the critically endangered Southern Right Whale.

The DW-D3, the beautifully designed diver watch from acclaimed timepiece maker Duzu paying tribute to the endangered Southern Right Whale, is live on global crowdfunding platform Kickstarter and raising funds to bring the project to life.
Over the years, Western Australia-based watchmaker Duzu has drawn attention to the region’s natural oceanic beauty such as the Ningaloo Reef Manta Rays, and the Coral Bay Coast. The company has now launched an all-new dive watch to highlight the plight of the critically endangered Southern Right Whale with their DW-D3 timepiece.
“For us, this is so very easy. A gentle oceanic giant, the Southern Right Whale frequents our coastal waters for several months of each year as it seasonally migrates north and south,” says founder and CEO Wayne McCay. “Through our new watch we aim to raise awareness and funds for the plight of this majestic ocean giant.”
Duzu has taken the natural beauty of the Southern Right Whale and incorporated it directly into the design philosophy of the DW-D3. Everything from taking the baleen feeding system of the mouth of whales (interpreted as deep etching along the sides of the case), to the hands of the clock (inspired by the shape of the whale’s skull), flippers of the whale (which make up the lugs of the case), to the iconic whale tail (the 12 o’clock marker of the inner bezel) all make an appearance on the watch. These are only a handful of examples which showcase the ingenuity and attention to detail that Duzu has approached the project in paying respect to their oceanic neighbor.
Beadblasted and brushed 316L stainless steel finishes alongside leather and sailcloth straps offer an elegant feel for wearers. The DW-D3 is powered by a Japanese premium automatic movement and manufactured in Hong Kong with meticulous attention to detailed intended to deliver a watch designed to last a lifetime. With every sale of the DW-D3, Duzu Watches has pledged to commit $20 to conservation and protection of the Southern Right Whale.
