Living Waters Inc to Host the 2022 Mental Health Summit

By: PRLog

Living Waters Inc, a faith-based non-profit, will host the summit September 23rd. The event will focus on "Bridging the Health Equity Gap for Children and Families to Heal from Grief and Loss".

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Aug. 15, 2022 - PRLog -- From death to job loss all the way to social injustice and the lingering effects of COVID-19–more and more families seem to be trapped in an endless cycle of tragic and traumatic events.

According Mental Health America, nearly 50 million Americans are experiencing a mental illness. NC ranks 12th in U.S. for mental health struggles. The numbers are sobering in communities of color where mental health often comes with a stigma, forcing families to silently suffer from grief and loss.

The Summit will advocate for awareness, facilitate critical conversations and promote partnerships. Its end goal is to address the health inequities and disparities that keep children and their families from the help they need to heal. In partnership with Healthy Blue, Mecklenburg County Public Health Department and ReCAST Mecklenburg the summit will:
● Promote strategies for healthcare systems, social services and natural helping networks to work together to support children and families suffering from grief and loss.
● Increase knowledge about evidence-based practices for helping children and families heal from grief and loss.
● Increase access to resources to support caregivers, children and families to heal from grief and loss

Joan Been, Living Waters Inc President and CEO states, "There is a great need for additional pillars of response to identify, treat and support children and families suffering from grief and loss."

The keynote speaker for the "2022 Mental Health Summit" will be Vergel L. Lattimore III, PhD. Dr. Lattimore is the President and Professor of Pastoral Psychology and Counseling at Hood Theological Seminary.

The summit will also include interactive breakout sessions, moderated panel discussion, audience Q&A, and an exhibitor hall.

Living Waters Inc will launch a campaign in August to emphasize the event's theme, "The Face of Grief". In an effort to spark conversation and engagement, the organization will release a content series and activities centered on the stages of grief, coping with grief and providing support to grieving children and families in a way that is unique to them.
