PTCE to Present Three Satellite Symposia at the American Pharmacists Association 2020 Annual Meeting & Exposition

PTCE, a leader in continuing education for retail, health-system, oncology, managed care and specialty pharmacists, will conduct three continuing education satellite symposia at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) 2020 Annual Meeting & Exposition on March 21 and 22 at the Gaylord National Resort & Conference Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

“We are proud to deliver these continuing education sessions to attendees at the 2020 APhA Meeting & Exposition,” said Jim Palatine, MBA, RPh, president of PTCE. “Each session will provide pharmacists with practical education and strategies that will assist them in improving patient outcomes when managing various conditions.”

The PTCE satellite symposia are:

  • Influenza Management: Reviewing the Safety and Efficacy of Therapy Options, to be held Saturday, March 21, from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. in the Cherry Blossom Ballroom. Faculty presenters for this program include James Lewis, Pharm.D., FIDSA, infectious diseases clinical pharmacy supervisor, Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon; and Miranda Wilhelm,Pharm.D., clinical associate professor, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Pharmacy in Edwardsville, Illinois.   • Continuous Glucose Monitoring: The Evolution of Diabetes Care, to be held Saturday, March 21, with a dinner reception from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m. and the main session from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. in the Cherry Blossom Ballroom. Faculty presenters for this program include Diana Isaacs, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP, BC-ADM, CDCES, clinical pharmacy specialist, continuous glucose monitoring program coordinator, Cleveland Clinic Diabetes Center in Cleveland, Ohio; and Dhiren Patel, Pharm.D., BCACP, BC-ADM, CDCES, endocrine clinical pharmacy specialist, VA Boston Healthcare System, and adjunct associate professor of pharmacy practice, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston, Massachusetts. This session will include patient counseling video vignettes, which will provide important information about continuous glucose monitoring.   • Migraine Prophylaxis and Treatment: Evolving Therapies and the Opportunity for Pharmacist Intervention, to be held Sunday, March 22, from 6:30 to 8:00 a.m. in the Cherry Blossom Ballroom. Faculty presenters for this program include Jeffrey Fudin, Pharm.D., FCCP, FASHP, FFSMB, clinical pharmacy specialist in pain management, Albany Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, New York; and Paul G. Mathew, M.D., DNBPAS, FAAN, FAHS, assistant professor of neurology, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. This activity is supported by an educational grant from Lilly.
