Kohl’s Donates $2 Million to the American Cancer Society for Wisconsin Families

Kohl’s (NYSE: KSS) today announced a donation of more than $2 million to the American Cancer Society, over three years, to support the enhancement and continuation of the Kohl’s Healthy Families program. Established in 2015, this program supports the reduction of cancer risk for families in Southeastern Wisconsin by increasing access to healthy foods and improving opportunities to become more active through community education, collaboration and engagement.

The donation, made in support of Kohl’s overall commitment to family health and wellness, will allow the American Cancer Society to implement new and enhanced strategies relating to the Kohl’s Healthy Families program. These strategies include engaging in a public health campaign to encourage healthy eating and active living, as well as providing training to community health workers and increasing their access to health education and resources. Additionally, Kohl’s donation will fund the American Cancer Society’s collaboration with community organizations and schools to implement innovative programs to educate families in the greater Milwaukee community about healthy eating and active living.

“Kohl’s is proud to continue our partnership with the American Cancer Society to ensure that Milwaukee-area families have access to information and resources,” said Jen Johnson, Kohl’s senior vice president of communications. “We hope to make a positive difference in the lives of Wisconsin families by encouraging healthy habits through the Kohl’s Healthy Families program.”

“Thanks to Kohl’s ongoing support, we’re excited to implement new and enhanced strategies to help families in Southeastern Wisconsin reduce their risk of cancer by making healthy choices and continue existing community outreach efforts through our Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events,” said Laurie Bertrand, American Cancer Society’s executive director in Wisconsin. “We deeply appreciate our partners at Kohl’s for their generous donation and long-time commitment to our mission of saving lives from cancer.”

In addition to supporting the Kohl’s Healthy Families program, the donation will also allow for the engagement and education of families at American Cancer Society sponsored events, including five Relay For Life events in Southeastern Wisconsin and the 2020 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event in Milwaukee.

Since 2001, Kohl's and Kohl's Cares have committed more than $130 million to nonprofit organizations in the greater Milwaukee area, including more than $13 million to the American Cancer Society.
