The following was posted to AMR Corporations intranet on the evening of May 22, 2013 in response to a question from an employee of AMR Corporation.
Employee #1
Great All Hands today. Over the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk about preparing for Day 1 (Legal Close). I see us preparing lists of activities that we need to do now to make sure that were ready for Day 1. So, what should we expect for Day 1? And what should we expect for Day 2?

Hey [Employee] - great question. Weve started to get a sense from the business on what they want to see for Day 1 for customers. Some of those projects include frequent flyer program reciprocal accrual/redemption, codesharing on each others flights, deep links between each others websites for check-in and paid seating, etc. I expect well also try to align policies and procedures for Day 1 as well, so customers have as similar an experience as possible across both airlines. For Day 2 and beyond, well deliver as many projects as we possibly can to further align products and services between the companies and begin to realize the value of the merger.
On Day 1, expect to see lots of communication for customers and employees about the two companies coming together. Well highlight what weve been able to align for day 1 and a roadmap for any future benefits that have been defined.
I hope this answers your question.
